Workshop/Course Description: 
We will be focusing on how our perception of what we think is the context of a source material can affect our interpretation and our bias toward the message we think is being communicated. In this workshop, we will look at how we initially perceive and process a specific source material and how with added information/context, our perception of the material may or may not change. We will also see if added context challenges our initial perception, and if it does, if we become more resolute in our initial feelings or are able to overcome any reticence. We will also analyze how the context translates into an American/English speaking environment, a Deaf environment, and a Latino/Spanish speaking environment and if our biases alter the contextual information here. This is a very hands on workshop with little presentation! | En este taller, nos enfocamos en la percepción de lo que es el contexto de un material original y como ella pueda afectar a nuestra predospición y por consiguiente a la interpretación del mensaje. Empezaremos con el primer impacto de una fuente, que sea en inglés, señas, o español, para luego ver si información añadida podrá cambiar nuestra perspectiva o disposición hacia el mensaje. A ver si la información añadida es contradictoria a nuestra primera impresión y que sí si podriámos capaz de asimilarla o si quedemos resolutos. A la vez analizaremos nuestra percepción del contexto y como afecta a la presentación del contexto del mensaje en otro contexto cultural (ES/Señas/Inglés) además de analizar como el contexto supuestamente objetivo cambia cuando se presenta en otro contexto cultural. Trabajamos totalmente en grupo con poca lección y lectura.
